In Treatment [HBO]

I have been waiting to see this new series starring Gabriel Byrne since I first saw the description. Add Josh Charles (who I loved in Sports Night) and I was counting the days until In Treatment (11:15 PM CST) aired. It is a daily half-hour series that looks at the 5 patients (3 individuals and a married couple) that Byrne's psychoanalyst character is treating. And it also gives the doctor a turn on the couch with his own therapist.

Samantha Who? [ABC]

I will admit that I originally gave this show a shot because the lack of new episodes of the series I loved were on hiatus due to the writers' strike and because even a re-run of Samantha Who? (9:30 PM CST) is all new to me. But what I found was a cute, quirky show full of people I already loved on other series. Christina Applegate has incredible comedic timing. Who knew Kelly Bundy could be this funny? Jean Smart is perfection as her mother. And Sookie Dena is Sam's ever loyal friend. Samantha Who? has earned a spot on my primary TiVo's Season Pass list.
