I found I had way more questions than I had answers after watching the premiere of the fourth season - each of which are tucked under the fold for those more patient LOST fans who somehow found a way not to watch it yet.

Questions

Who are the Oceanic 6? When Hurley gets arrested, after being spooked in a convenience store by some unknown person, he claims to be one of the Oceanic 6. Obviously it consists of 6 of the castaways, but which ones? Hurley, Jack, Kate, ...

Who is Matthew Abadon? Who is the attorney that visited Hurley in the psych ward? Does he work for Dharma? Does he work for Ben? Does he work for Mittelos?

Who Are They? Abadon asks Hurley if "they" are still alive? Who are they? Why is Hurley so frightened to answer this question. And again, when Charlie tells him that "they" need him, who are "they"?

Why Did Naomi Cover For Locke? Why did Naomi cover for the castaways after being stabbed?

Who Was In The Cabin? Who was in Jacob's cabin? The man in the rocking chair had white shoes on. But who was the man that was staring out at Hurley? Whose eye was that?

Why Was Hurley Sorry He Went With Locke? Why was going with Locke important after they got off the island? What happened that made going with Locke a bad thing for Hurley?

Answers

Ana Lucia was a cop. The officer interrogating Hurley said she was his partner before she got on the plane

Hurley's Flash Forward Is Before Jack's. Jack tells Hurley that he was thinking about growing a beard. Jack had a beard in his flash forward in the third season finale.

Speculation

So, my wild speculation is that I think that the Oceanic 6 got off the island through some sort of a deal with the people on the boat or maybe with Ben and that the rest of the castaways are still on the island. And part of the deal is that if they ever tell anyone about the island, the rest of the castaways will be killed. I think that is why Hurley ran. I think that is why he was so scared of seeing Charlie and answering Abadon. And I think that is why Jack is so messed up in the flash forward in the third season finale - he can't live with the guilt of abandoning the rest of them. Jack has always been the leader of the group. He insisted that they live together or die alone. Getting off the island, and leaving the group behind is contrary to who and what Jack is.

It was a solid opener. I really liked that it focused entirely on the core characters, and Hurley being the focus of the flash forward really worked for me. He is the caretaker and the emotional center of the island.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
